Author Biography

Joel Christian Gill is a cartoonist and historian who speaks nationally on the importance of sharing stories. He is the author of the award-winning Strange Fruit: Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History volumes I and II as well as Bessie Stringfield and Bass Reeves in the Tales of the Talented Tenth series. He is currently associate professor of illustration at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Qiana Whitted is a professor of English and African American studies at the University of South Carolina. She is the author of the Eisner Award-winning book EC Comics: Race, Shock, and Social Protest.
