born-a-crime-9780399588181I am currently reading Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. I am about halfway through and loving it so far. I’ve been a fan of Trevor’s show and his standup for a while now, so I thought I’d check out his book. Trevor was born to a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa mother in apartheid South Africa. This was punishable by five years in prison, so Trevor had to stay inside and remain hidden from both the police and his family’s neighbors for most of his childhood. It’s also a touching story about his relationship with his mother and it traces how he got to where he is today because of her constant love and support.—Olivia Aguilar, publicist

I’m still on the audiobook for Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend. I’m parceling my listening as a motivational tool for chores, and it’s probably the only reason my dishes are clean.  —Ashley Alfirevic, publicity associate

david-tennant-michael-sheen-good-omens-534x400I would be falling down at my job and dashing expectations if I didn’t start off this report with the Kermit flail arms of excitement (with maybe the dance of joy as an encore) with the news that Michael Sheen and David Tennant have been cast as Aziraphale and Crowley in the forthcoming Good Omens miniseries.

Over a recent weekend getaway I started reading Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series. It’s one of my best friend’s favorite authors and series, and I’d been thinking about starting to watch the TV series Bosch, so I decided to get some book background first. I finished The Closers, Echo Park, and over half of The Overlook over a three day period. Soon I’ll be taking a reading break from Bosch’s modern L.A. noir world to visit a Victorian parish that may or may not be terrorized by a winged leviathan in The Essex Serpent. —Mary Kravenas, marketing manager

hearts invisibleI received The Heart’s Invisible Furies from the Book of the Month Club and I’m so pumped to start reading because it has been compared to John Irving and Lucy Maud Montgomery’s work, two authors I love. I’m also going to start reading CRP’s own The General’s Niece in light of the terrifying events this week.  —Emily Lewis, editorial and marketing assistant

I recently reread Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks, but I liked it less the second time around. I then read Epileptic by David B., an astonishingly rich graphic memoir. I’m listening to The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante, the fourth book in her Neapolitan tetralogy—it’s involving, utterly convincing, complex, and moving. I’m going to miss it when I finish it. And I’m rereading Arnold Rampersad’s Life of Langston Hughes, an extraordinary biography. —Yuval Taylor, senior editor

I just started reading Your Heart Is a Muscle the Size of a Fist by Sunil Yapa.  It has been invading my mind in a particularly heartbreaking way this week. —Michelle Williams, managing editor
