Lawrence Hill Books

Lawrence Hill Books is dedicated to publishing nonfiction that centers, focuses on, highlights, and uplifts Black voices and experiences.  Lawrence Hill Books was founded in Brooklyn, New York, by leftist publisher Lawrence Hill in 1973 and was acquired by Chicago Review Press in 1993. The Lawrence Hill backlist includes classics such as Assata, The Assassination of Fred Hampton, and Soledad Brother. A few forthcoming books include Everything That Rises by Brianna Craft, We Gon’ Be Black Today by Jonita Davis, and We Are the Culture by Arionne Nettles.
