Ball Publishing specializes in gardening books for professional growers and landscapers as well as home gardening enthusiasts. It got its start early in the life of Ball Horticultural Company, founded in 1905 by George J. Ball. Ball was a seedsman and flower grower of the highest order, but he was also a prolific writer and a dedicated proponent of sharing his knowledge. In 1932, he published the first Ball RedBook, considered the bible for the greenhouse industry. In 2009, Chicago Review Press Incorporated purchased the lauded Ball Publishing backlist (with the exception of the RedBooks) and has since acquired new titles aimed at home gardeners, including The Twilight Garden.
